Saamanjasya ’10, a novel concept, is being organized by Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur in the third week of March 2010. The aim of the event is to bring together Corporates and NGO’s on a common platform to ensure inclusive growth and inculcate a culture of “Giving back to the society” in the youth.

We invite you to participate in Shikshan, a series of workshops intended to provide the audience with real-life examples of how different aspects of corporate social responsibility have actually contributed to the bottom-line of practicing companies. Run by eminent industry experts, these sessions will give you a sneak-peak into the journey taken by different business organizations and their efforts to make environmental management and social responsibility a winning business strategy. We present workshops on Water Conservation and Green Tyres each looking at sustainability from a different perspective.

Water Conservation: The importance of water and water conservation can never be overemphasised. The challenges facing utilities in meeting diverse demands for water are increasing. It has become pertinent for companies to start water conservation programmes at every stage of their operations. Experts from Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages provide insights on relevant initiatives in sustaining and replenishing water resources and how these actually add value to the company’s profits.

Green Tyres: Tyres account for nearly 20% of a car’s entire fuel consumption. Most of this energy is wasted, in the form of heat in overcoming the Rolling resistance of a tyre. Low rolling resistance tyres reduce vehicle running costs and other harmful exhaust emissions. Hear all about the design, cost benefits and environmental impact of Green Tyres from Michelin, the pioneers in the field of Green Tyre design.
