6th March 2010 witnessed one of the most extravagant and energetic 3 hours of excitement at Santokba Hall, NMIMS.  The event, aptly called “Pucca Baniyaa”, organised by the Entrepreneurship cell of NMIMS, saw over 1000 footfalls and 23 teams participating in an innovative business - selling and marketing game which assured that everyone would rake in some moolah. Cash Prizes of 15000INR were up for grabs.

The event was an unparalleled success, which can be substantiated by the fact that net sales amounted to 1.1 lakh INR. Given the time frame available, i.e., 3 hours, it indeed took a praiseworthy effort on the part of the participating teams to have managed such high volumes of sales. It showcased their street smartness and ability to sell/market and most importantly the success of this game concept as a marketing tool.

Sponsors for the event included I-ball, Print Club Zone, Asha Handicrafts, among others. The beauty of the event was that it was a win-win situation for all and everyone got assured margin on what they sold. It was indeed a thrill to watch participants sell diverse products including Electronics, computer peripherals, food items, mugs and t shirts, just to name a few.  Each involved a different scale and scope of selling and different strategies for negotiation.  The teams were pitted against each other in a dynamic environment with challenges being thrown at them during the game, to replicate a real life scenario, full of adversities. This made them think out of the box and brought out the best in them.

In nutshell, it was the show stopper and a fun event, yet a game which involved real money and exposed the selling skills and business acumen of the participants. In the end, the smartest ones made the cut but ultimately the entrepreneurial spirit won!
