When the announcement reached my ears, I couldn’t believe it. It was a moment of sheer ecstasy and immense pride. I felt like I was on top of the world. Hero MotoCorp is a big and reputed organization and we had heard about Hero Campus Challenge Season 4 – an intense and prestigious corporate competition for engineering and B-School students. So, we geared up to participate in it no matter what.
We worked hard for the first round but it was when we received an email for Round 2 that the process took momentum. We started working a lot harder. Deciding the most critical problem that the customers face, was the most difficult phase of the competition. We interacted with many customers and came up with a feasible solution. This gave us a lot of insight as to how we can reach our solution better and in an effective way.
We, as a team, have participated in many competitions before. Conflicts are a part of the preparation and we had our fair share. But we had a way to deal with them. Everyone in our team was free to discuss his/her views and then, we would list all the points discussed and would jot down the pros and cons for each of them. This helped us to analyze the problem from different perspectives. I have work experience in the automotive industry and my teammate, Nivedhan, has worked as an analyst. This added varied layers to our solution. Our other teammate, Jyoti, being a CS engineer and a marketing enthusiast, added great value to our team.
A total of 5 teams were there for B-School category in the finale. I am not being diplomatic when I say that I considered each team to be a worthy competitor. Making it to the finale needed great effort and each team gave their best to reach that point. Everything in terms of judgment quality, organization, and framing was beyond our expectations. From Round 1 till the Grand Finale, everything was well-organized and each and everyone did a great job.
When it comes to learning, I would say that Hero Campus Challenge Season 4 gave me a lot of opportunities to get to know concepts in real life. Also, the visit to CIT, Jaipur and Garden Factory of HMCL was a lifetime experience. The moment that I will remember forever would be when everyone in the audience voted for our team when asked about their thoughts on who would be the winner. The moments gathered from this competition will forever be etched in my memory.
