The world-famous cosmetic brand L’Oreal for the past 26 years has been successfully conducting the Brandstorm contest in many countries. Brandstorm is a prestigious platform which recognizes the young talents and their innovative ideas in running the business.
Brandstorm 2018 has been a B-plan challenge which focused on ‘Invent the professional salon experience of the future’. The challenge was open to all graduate and undergraduate students across the world (MBA students were allowed to participate only in India). The participants were to form a team of three members. And each team was assigned to a Brandstorm manager to help them through the process of registration.
The competition consists of three different rounds, which are:
- National Pre-selection- A case was released on 16th of oct 2017 and the teams had to submit their B-plans or Pitch online about the case as a powerpoint presentation.
- National Selection- The selected teams from the previous round were given privileges to seek assistance from local designers to accentuate their pitch. The teams present their ideas in PPT to the Jury followed by the brief discussion. The Jury then selects the best teams from the lot to be a national representative for the World Finals.
- World Finals-The national winners are invited to join with the winners from other nations for the grand finale to be held in Paris on 17th May 2018. View the rules of the competition here.
Six incredible teams presented themselves at L’Oreal India Headquarters to compete at the national finals of Brandstorm 2018. According to the result, team StormTroopers from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mumbai emerged as the winners, first runners-up were Team Marketrons of S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) and second runners-up were Team Insight Hawks of Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM). NMIMS and SPJIMR will represent India at the upcoming global finals on May 17th in Paris.
