My journey which culminated with placement at Abbott, started on the first day at IMT. I was a starry-eyed boy with a dream in his heart and pockets filled with dedication, entered the magnanimous IMT Campus! Fast forward to the end and I find myself in a cut-throat Group Discussion which is to be followed by a personal interview. Just when I thought that the Finish line was in sight, another qualifying phase is revealed. A final telephone interview with the senior leadership marked a start to my journey to Abbott!
Everyone will share their 2 cents on the process. The way forward is selective hearing. As should be the case with all advice. While preparing I focussed primarily on communication and content for discussion. I aligned my thoughts for the interview by understanding the Pharma industry and product portfolio of the company. Going through the marketing concepts that were relevant to the Pharma industry gave me an edge over the competition and put me to ease which concluded my journey to Abbot.
Data from verified sources along with facts to go with logic helped me sail through the group discussion. Being precise while communicating, listening to and building on others’ points helps you to establish yourself as a leader in GDs. Moreover, having limited entries into the discussion makes you relevant enough to be noticed by the recruiters.
The personal interview focused on my past professional experience and role. It further went onto a discussion around consumer-centered marketing strategies and how different products suit different consumers. Finally, we discussed my strengths and weaknesses. How I am working on them and if at all, they can be a hindrance in my work.
That’s all it took me to get into one of the LinkedIn top companies and their most revered Summer Internship Program 2018.
