1. Hi beta. My daughter made me read your post and I must say I am touched to say the least.

My friends, all batch-mates from the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, went on to serve in the most decorated units of the Indian Army but lost their lives in various operations / mishaps. The three years that I spent with them are something I still cherish and would love to live them again if I ever got the chance. Now I am the only one from that group left, and trust me, the memories come back in a flash if someone were to speak of them . I too think of the “what if” question sometimes, and I wonder how it would be like to meet them over lunch.

Sincerely hope you have lifelong friendships with an inspiring, dependable set of people (they will always be in the single digits) and are in touch with them as you do great things for the people around you. God Bless and wish you the best.

    • Dear Sir,

I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits.

Firstly, I am beyond humbled that my words meant something to you or triggered a fond memory. Your words have inspired not just me but also my parents and the two friends whom I wrote about.

In my experience, it is my few true friends who’ve always lovingly pushed me to be a better version of myself and that is also generally the hallmark of a true friend as well. So, thank you for wishing for me the love, warmth and inspiration of friendships that will spur me to be a good person and friend to them as well.

I am saddened to know you miss your friends but the bonds you formed and shared speaks for itself that you think about them still and I’m certain if the situation were reversed, they would feel the same way. They are lucky to have had that time with you and vice versa.

I hope you have and continue to find everything you have so kindly wished for me. Thank you for touching me and brightening my day.

      Kindest regards,

PS- I tried replying to you via email two weeks ago but it didn’t deliver but I really hope you see this.
