The US health and medical Insurance industry earned revenues of $804 bn in 2016, with a 3% annual growth rate. The Industry growth in the recent years has been driven by increase in healthcare expenditure especially in chronic diseases and decrease in the rate of un-insured population. Rising medical costs and regulatory pressures are reducing the industry profits. Low confidence in political dynamics in the US and uncertainty over the fate of social welfare insurance plans have presented newer challenges for the healthcare insurance industry. In such turbulent times, it has become imperative for the insurance providers to focus on customer experience and retention to ensure sustained growth and profitability.

The case challenge will provide the opportunity for the participants to use their analytical skills for conceptualizing and strategizing the approaches to enable the Insurers/policy makers retain their consumers and provide a valuable experience while maintaining the profitability

  • Registration open 28th August, 2017
  • Screening round (Round 1): 4th -20th September, 2017
  • Final round Presentation 14th/15th October, 2017
Event Guidelines and Rules
  • All students enrolled in a graduate program (including Executive MBAs) during the academic year 2017-2018 are eligible to participate in the competition.
  • Allowable team size: Up to 3 members.
  • There is no limit on the number of teams that can participate from a single institute, however, no student from such an institute can be part of more than one team.
  • One team cannot have members from different institutes.
  • All decisions regarding eligibility and final judgment shall rest with the Advaita team.
  • The format and rules of events are subject to change before the start of the event.
  • Teams selected for the final round will be provided accommodation by ISB.
  • Any supplementary information meant for the teams shall be communicated directly to the team via email.

Screening Round (Round 1):
  • Submission in powerpoint format - not more than 5 slides, with appropriate citations. (Refer to the attached problem statement)
Final Round (Round 2):
  • Shortlisted teams will be required to present the case solution to the panel. Additional details will be shared with the shortlisted teams after Round 1.
